Electrical Stimulation helps prevent or reduce muscle atrophy and muscle spasms. Atrophy is the weakening, or loss of muscle tone, that occurs after surgery or trauma. This type of stimulation uses low-volt current targeted to stimulate motor neurons, causing muscle contraction and relaxation, which pumps toxins and lactic acid out of your muscle tissue. Electrical Stimulation prevents the pooling of metabolites and lactic acid in your muscle. Once your muscle is exhausted, it relaxes, allowing Dr. Stefanczyk or Dr. Woodas to adjust you more effectively.
Electrical Stimulation Benefits

Untreated Muscle Problems
If muscle spasms are left untreated, your muscle can constantly contract and partially dislocate your spine. Contact Falls Healing Arts to discuss your needs and setup an appointment.
What is Interferential Therapy?
Interferential therapy sends a very mild electrical current through your skin into the tissue of the injured area. Because of its frequency, the current has no problem crossing the skin and entering the damaged tissue. The current acts as a “squeegee,” eliminating most of the fluid buildup (edema) around the injured area. If left untreated, the edema will accumulate and put pressure on the surrounding muscles and nerves, causing you more pain. Interferential therapy also interferes with the transmission of pain messages at the cord level, giving your more pain relief. Many patients with acute injuries are initially treated with interferential therapy and ice.
Hot and Cold Therapy
You can use both ice and heat to help injured areas of your body. When used in unison, hot and cold therapy can drastically reduce or even lesson pain. Heat promotes increased blood and oxygen flow which reduces pain. The application of ice, on the other hand, causes your veins to constrict and flex your muscle which reduces painful inflammation.
